Project Description

The Port Authority plans to replace the Midtown Bus Terminal (MBT) with a new Main Terminal, a Staging and Storage Facility (SSF), & a Ramp Structure. The SSF will be built first to serve as an interim terminal during construction and later for bus storage. The SSF, located between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, will be 900,000 square feet with 8 levels and include retail spaces and bus charging stations. The Ramp Structure will be 500,000 square feet on Galvin Plaza, connecting to the SSF and Main Terminal. It will span the Amtrak Empire Corridor Line and include retail spaces. This structure will manage bus movements from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Main Terminal, using existing ramp locations.
